Arts Council England's extra £5m cut on top of 3% cuts to all DCMS bodies • Lottery reforms to restore 20% share to arts.

• ACE gives details of £19m budget cut

Arts Council England has now detailed how it will make the £19m in-year budget cuts. The ACE has managed to give only a 0.5% cut across the board to regularly funded organisations (RFO) after using £9m historic reserves.

In May, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) announced a cut of £19m to Arts Council England, as part of its £88million savings from its budget towards reducing the Government deficit. The move was part of £6.2 billion of cuts across Government in this financial year, announced by the Chancellor on 24 May.

The DCMS savings included a 3% cut to all bodies within the DCMS sector and an additional reduction in Arts Council England’s (ACE) budget of £5 million, taking their total budget reduction to £19m. There was also a cut of £27 million to the Olympics budget.
