NFASP founding member of new Visual Arts UK network
NFASP is pleased to announce it has joined up with other representative bodies and agencies in the visual arts sector to create a new nationwide network - Visual Arts UK (VAUK).
The newly formed VAUK aims to raise the political profile of the visual arts in the context of the new Coalition Government and the uncertainty of its impact on
the arts. The network was initiated by and includes the Visual Arts and Galleries Association (VAGA) and, as well as NFASP, also has the following founding members: AIR/a-n, Artquest, Axis, The Contemporary Art Society, The Crafts Council, engage and the International Curators Forum.
The
VAUK network has among its list of remits to inform and influence the
national policy context as it affects the visual arts and co-ordinate
approaches on policy and initiatives that affect the sector. One of its
first priorities will be to support the campaign for affordable
artists' studios within the five Olympic boroughs, and the new network
will help boost NFASP's advocacy for artists' studio organisations
throughout the UK.
We will be reporting more on VAUK's
activities, and our involvement, on the NFASP website and in future
newsletters. But for more information on VAUK now, go to: www.vaga.co.uk where the VAUK mission statement can be downloaded.
