NFASP formation
Successive conferences and meetings organised by Space Studios, Vision in Art, the Cultural Industries Development Agency, Yorkshire ArtSpace Society, Arts Council England and others, have addressed the relationship of artists' workspace organisations to creativity, culture, the economy, society and the built environment.
In July 2003, two Arts Council funded conferences (Creating Places and Making Spaces) marked a significant point in the development of the studios sector - a recognition that it had 'come of age' - and helped increase its profile and an appreciation of its value. The idea of a national organisation to represent the sector was first raised and debated publicly at these conferences.
